Carrier Pigeon

The Carrier Pigeon is also known as English Carrier Pigeons. The Carrier Pigeon is a kind of fancy pigeon developed over many more years of selective breeding. Rock Pigeon or Columba Livia is the fore father or ancestor of Carrier Pigeons along with other varieties of domesticated pigeons. A carrier pigeon is a homing pigeon which is specifically a domesticated rock pigeon or Columba Livia that is used to carry messages. Pigeon which is used to carry messages are generally called "Pigeon Post". The kind is developed in England from the Persian and the Baghdad Carriers and the Powter Pigeons which is a combination of non European kinds. The Old English Carrier was originally used for sending messages who are the largest of the flying pigeon kinds. Above the beak the large cere is one of the main characteristics of this old English kind of pigeon. With a long slender neck it should measure 17.5 to 18.5 inches in total length, is also one of the tallest of the pigeons. Carrier Pigeons are tight feathered bird which helps it appearing smaller than it really is. Carrier Pigeons are found in Dun, Yellow, Red, Black, White and Blue-barred.
